The Accession of any king or queen is naturally tinged with sorrow over the death of the reigning monarch. In our Queen's case that sorrow was twofold: King George VI died unexpectedly at the relatively early age of 56 and the new Queen herself was on tour in Africa and unable to be with her father when he died. The 60th anniversary of this double event is movingly commemorated in a Benham Royalty cover depicting both King Grge VI and The Queen, and bearing a striking pictorial Royal Arms Windsor, Berkshire handstamp. The cover also bears a further Queen Elizabeth II stamp tied by an informative cachet.
