In 2020 Royal Mail launched a competition, open to school children across the UK, to design a stamp featuring their heroes of the Covid pandemic.
From over 600,000 entries, Royal Mail picked 120 regional finalists. HRH The Prince of Wales selected the eight winning designs, and the finished stamps were approved by HM The Queen.
The eight 1st class stamp designs are: NHS Workers (Jessica Roberts); Captain Sir Tom Moore (Shachow Ali); NHS hospital cleaners (Raphael Valle Martin); NHS/my mum (Alfie Craddock); Lab technician (Logan Pearson); Delivery driver (Isabella Grover); The NHS (Connie Stuart) and Doctors, nurses (Ishan Bains).
The BLCS 2500 cover bears a London EC1 handstamp.
