The commemorative issue of four 1st class and four £1.70 stamps marks not only the 50th anniversary of Paul McCartney's solo album 'Ram' but also 50 years since the formation of his band Wings. The stamps reproduce the album covers from eight of his most famous releases and are issued in two se-tenant strips of four.
The Gold 500 cover features the image of a cherry framed by an intricate 22ct gold-blocked design echoing the cover design from his first album 'McCartney' as depicted on one of the 1st class commemoratives. The cover is completed by a vinyl LP cachet and a Liverpool pictorial handstamp. Numbered limited edition of 500.
