The Visions of the Universe issue depicts eight spectacular natural phenomena which have been observed from the Earth since the foundation of the Royal Astronomical Society 200 years ago. The images include the Cat's Eye Nebula discovered by Sir William Herschel, first president of the RAS and Cygnus A galaxy - the first radio source discovered beyond our own galaxy.
The prestige stamp booklet comprises four panes - two with four of the stamps each from the issue and two mixed Machin panes of eight stamps surrounding a central label.
This cover bears an image of the Orion Nebula first observed with Herschel's telescope and carries a London W1 handstamp.
