The commemorative miniature sheet celebrates the legacy of Prince Albert, Prince Consort. Four stamps - two 1st class NVI and two £1.55 - depict four buildings - three of which he was instrumental in bringing to existence - Model Lodge, Kennington, Balmoral Castle and the Crystal Palace (shown at its permanent location at Sydenham) and one - the Royal Albert Hall - dedicated to his memory. The sheet selvedge depicts the Prince in his prime.
The BS set of four covers are each complemented by an image of the building featured on the stamp together with an appropriate handstamp and a unifying cachet incorporating a facsimile of Prince Albert's signature.
