Continuing Royal Mail's 'Music Giants' series this issue celebrates Sir Elton John on the 50th anniversary of his first solo recording and since he has gone on to achieve 37 gold and 27 multi-platinum albums. Following the style of the earlier issues in the Music Giants series, the miniature sheet celebrates live performances of the artist across his career from his earliest days at Hammersmith Odeon (1973) and the Dodgers Stadium New York (1975) to Buckingham Palace for HM The Queen's Diamond Jubilee (2012) and Madison Square Garden just last year.
Each of the four covers in the BS set carries one of the stamps from the miniature sheet together with an appropriate image of the location of the concert depicted and an appropriate handstamp.
