The 2017 Royal Mail Racehorse Legends issue consists of eight stamps, each featuring a horse that has won one or more of the UK's most prestigious races and therefore left their mark in racing history. The horses featured are Red Rum, Arkle, Desert Orchid, Kauto Star, Estimate, Frankel, Brigadier Gerard and Shergar.
This cover focuses on Estimate, the Queen's horse ridden by jockey Ryan Moore to victory in the Ascot Gold Cup in 2013. The image is framed by a 22ct gold blocked design and is produced in a limited edition of 500. The stamps have been cancelled with a pictorial Newmarket handstamp. The cover additionally features the 13p Thoroughbred stamp from the 1978 Horses issue.
