Our 2016 special gold cover focuses on 'The War in the Air' and bears five stamps and labels from the specially commissioned Benham customised stamp sheet which are cancelled with a 15th May Southampton handstamp. An image of MRAF Hugh Trenchard, 1st Viscount Trenchard, who was instrumental in establishing the RAF is surrounded by a 22 carat gold-blocked border. The 1986 History of the RAF commemorative featuring Trenchard is tied to the cover with an informative cachet. Signed by Air Chief Marshal Sir Andrew Pulford GCB, CBE, ADC who served as Chief of Air Staff between 2013-2016.
