This cover complements the stamps with a sombre image taken after the agreement for the Armistice that ended World War I at Compiegne in Marshal Foch's personal railway carriage. Foch is second from the right. The agreement was signed shortly after 5am on 11th November 1918 and came into effect 6 hours later - the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. The cover bears a pictorial Monument Road, Birmingham handstamp.
